Some stars from “All the Garden’s a Stage”
Here are some of the cartoons in my new book, “All the Garden’s a Stage”.
Most garden books are straight forward and informative. But since gardening is so much fun, why shouldn’t learning about it be fun, too?
That was my idea behind putting together this book. Being an artist and having spent a lifetime working in the green industry and as a home gardener, it simply seemed time for a different kind of gardening book. Okay, the concept is about sustainability which is so important these days, but it’s also about looking at gardening as an opportunity to create a whole show of your own. We’re talking about making a garden like a theatrical production: casting the right roles (plants), building the best set (landscape design), making sure systems work so the show goes on — no matter what — and more. You can stay as simple or become as creative as you want to be when producing your own garden show. Yes, gardening can be a creative and entertaining project in itself.
These cartoon characters help define how to make your garden perform on its own with minimal work. They were as fun to create as the book itself — which is written with a slightly whimsical tone of voice.
So if you are interested in learning a bit more about gardening — from a more unusual, creative perspective, check out “All the Garden’s a Stage”. It has information that should be valuable to gardeners at all levels, from beginners to advanced. I hope you enjoy it!
You can find it at bookstores, online at book-sellers and at the publisher’s site at Schiffer Books.
